Something To Say-World

Something to Say-World blog is a forum where I can vent and share my strong viewpoints with the world, and get feedback from others, whether they are pro or con, for or against my positions. The main thing is that we engage in a thought provoking discussion with hopes of seeing the world in a more clearer and different light than we did before initiating our intellectual dialogues. __________ MOTTO:Committed To Relentless Pursuit Of Hidden Truths -Globally-

DAVE WARWAK: MIDDLE SCHOOL ARTS TEACHER MAY BE FIRED FOR TEACHING VEGANISM? One More Example Of Extreme Political Correctness In Teaching!

(Story and Photo: CBS2 News, Chicago/Yahoo News)

Dave Warwak, a teacher at Fox River Grove Middle School, claims he was ordered to leave class for teaching his students about veganism (a philosophy and lifestyle that seeks to exclude the use of animals for food, clothing, or any other purpose). And he believes he may be fired.

Some here in England are laughing and comparing this case to a similar one that occurred in their public education system in which "Schools are dropping the Holocaust from history lessons to avoid offending Muslim pupils; a Government backed study revealed. The study found some teachers are reluctant to cover the atrocity for fear of upsetting students whose beliefs include Holocaust denial, etc.

Dave Warwak's situation is just one more prime example of extreme political correctness in teaching at the expense of providing students with a comprehensive perspective on life. Voice your outrage by calling the school principal at: 847-516-5105 or 5100.

You forgot to mention that he is an art teacher. After a week of school, he hadn't yet started my 5th or 8th grade kids on any art-related projects. They were given lectures, pamphlets, and, honest to God, warnings not to tell anyone because he could be fired!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No room for zealots of any kind in the public school classroom.

I was tolerant of Mr. Warwak's chosen subject matter the first few days of school. But, after a week of no art being created in art class, and hearing that he warned my kids' 5th and 8th grade art classes not to "tell anyone about his lectures, because he could get fired", I realized we had a self-serving, manipulative zealot on our hands. Whose salary I am helping pay!

To Both the Anonymous ones: First, if you read the title you would have seen that I mentioned Mr Warwak is an arts teacher. Second, if he strayed from the subject matter for which he was hired to teach, then the principal should administer whatever progressive disciplinary action necessary. But not outright firing. I'm from this school district as well. The district took appropriate steps to get Mr. Warwak to stop. He has refused. It's not the content of his message at the heart of this issue -- it's perversely distributing materials to young kids without the district's or parents' permission. Creepy. It seems he couldn't get adults to listen to his message by free will, so he found an unethical way to force it on our children. Icky whether you're from Britain or the United States.
